Swiss Encounter Zones

Solothurnstrasse, Grenchen, Switzerland. An Encounter Zone, basically a continuous pedestrian crossing 60m long. Drivers are required by law to slow down and stop for pedestrians. The PRIAN study trip also saw other Swiss Encounter Zones (Begegnungszonen) where streets have been designed to be calm, friendly and with slow traffic speeds.
