Reduce street clutter

This unkempt street suffers from poor maintenance, lack of co-ordination and care. The graffiti, fly-posters, overflowing bins and general street clutter do not foster wellbeing, either human or economic. They reduce the enjoyment of the street as a place.

Streets need to be cared for. Existing management and maintenance systems should ensure that graffiti and fly-posters are removed and that bins are emptied and benches maintained.

Longer term tasks would be to remove unnecessary traffic signs, put service boxes under the ground, put street lights on buildings, remove railings, simplify the design of crossings and street corners. Well-designed and maintained high quality pavements also help reduce street clutter.
