Declutter the streets

Real streets are seldom quite as neglected as this, though some are certainly close

This unkempt street suffers from poor maintenance, lack of co-ordination and care. The graffiti, fly-posters, overflowing bins and general street clutter do not foster wellbeing, either human or economic. They reduce the enjoyment of the street as a place.

A clean and tidy street looks like a place that is cared for

The first step is to make the street look as though someone cares. Start by making sure that the existing management and maintenance systems are working. Remove graffiti, fly-posters. Have bins emptied and benches, etc. maintained.

After that remove as many as possible of the signs and equipment and that make up street clutter.
